That's why Arno created a new kind of publisher--one that embraces technology and the relationship between publisher, writer and reader. Before deciding to submit a query to voters (your future audience), Arno wanted to make sure that you understood a few things about arno books that makes it a truly unique publisher:
- arno books publishes in electronic, drm-free formats only (PDF)
- your query and (potentially) partial will be read by everyone who joins the site and chooses to vote
- this is not a self-publishing site. your manuscript (if chosen for publication) will be edited
- there is no advance
- arno books will retain electronic rights only (including digital audio). you retain all other rights
- downloads will sell for $5 ($3 for audio). you get 50%, Arno gets 50%
As you can see, Arno is not your typical publisher. By being digital-only, Arno can sell stories cheap and give writers a bigger cut. Once traditional publishers awake from their slumber, they will realize that there will still be an audience for a paper-book version of your story, which may result in a traditional publishing contract. You retain those rights.
